Okay… I spent all day yesterday getting the eDegree template and Featured Content Gallery to play nice with each other!!

I tried all other approaches before going into the java scripts idea but I’d finally had enough and just did it, and it worked!

It’s not that scary and is very easy to do… no really! I’ll keep this simple, all you need to edit the file is an ordinary text editor such as note pad or word pad.

For those of you who are still a little squeamish about editing a java script file I zipped up a copy of mine and will included a link at the bottom of this post.

To modify the functions.js you must first find it. I used FileZilla to get to the file, whatever means you usually use to upload files… us it. You can do this from your cPannel/File Manager as well.

It is located in:

(folder) wp-content

(folder) themes

(folder) edegree

(folder) js

functions.js <==== this is it!

Now if you’re using FileZilla just right click “functions.js” and select download. Be sure to know where you’re downloading it to. In cPannel highlight it and hit the Download button.

Now go to the folder you downloaded it to and right click “functions.js”… open with… note pad or whatever text editor you use.

You will see the the second line reads jQuery.noConflict(); just put two slashes in front of that so it looks like this //jQuery.noConflict() BINGO! That’s it! Now go to File… Save… you did it!

Now delete the original “functions.js” from the js folder on your server where you found it, (overwriting it didn’t work for me), then upload the new and improved “functions.js” you just modified into the js folder.

Refresh your browser and it should work!

If you don’t want to edit the file you can download a copy of the one I modified here:

or copy this into your browser bar if the link isn’t showing ===> http://www.snarpfarkle.com/dl/eDegree-functions.zip <===, then just unzip it and replace your “functions.js” with that one and you should be able to get it to work!

Also be sure that you have all the eDegree settings correct… again, the articleimg tag must be in the “Custom fields” section pointing to a image file located in your wp-content folders or where ever you keep them, do this for at least two posts and you should see FCG in action.

Well now, yes I’ve been busy!

I actually got something to work!  No really!  I don’t know how many of you have ever had to work with “scripts”,  just let me tell you it’s a “FRIGGEN NIGHTMARE!”

Now, after… umm… a lot of days, I have my “Jokes” site up and running! ======> Just click on this banner and it will take you to the site, or copy and paste the link into your browser address bar. http://www.JOKES.snarpfarkle.com

Now look… I have over 6,000 jokes to enter and it’s not like I can just click a button and they all magically appear, so don’t get your panties in an bunch and give me a chance to get more in there!

Alternatively you can enter you own favorite jokes by signing up to the site!  All jokes must be approved before they will appear for the public to see, it’s a script feature that I can’t go around… poo.

So go ahead and check it out but check back often because I’ll be entering more jokes daily… I hope!
